​Library Reaches Out to Nonprofits

March 3, 2015, Monroe, NC – Union County Public Library has a new resource to benefit nonprofit organizations, students and artists seeking funding.

Union County Public Library has recently become a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center, the leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide. As a network partner, Monroe Library offers in-house access to Foundation Center databases, as well as a core collection of print materials.

"We are so excited to offer this new service to the citizens of Union County," stated Gypsy Houston, reference assistant and resident Foundation Center educator. "Use of the databases and materials are free and available whenever the library is open."

Individual and small group instruction is available by appointment. Also, public classes will be offered each quarter. Scheduled classes include:

  • March 17 at 3:30 p.m. — Introduction to Finding Funders
  • June 16 at 3:30 p.m. – Grant Seeking Basics
  • September 23 at 11 a.m. — Foundation Grants to Individuals
