Library Offers Virtual Cheesemaking Program

Virtual Cheesemaking 400x300The Union County Public Library recently hosted two virtual programs on how to make cheese at home. If you missed the videos when they first premiered, they are available to download and view on the library’s Vimeo Channel.

In the first video, watch Laura Kovacs, a Library Specialist at the Main Library in Monroe, help her husband Peter make lemon ricotta and paneer, an Indian cheese, using simple ingredients and equipment you probably already have at home. The video covers the ingredients and equipment you need to make these cheeses, goes over each step in the process, and includes some troubleshooting tactics.

In the second video, the pair make fresh mozzarella. The video details the equipment and ingredients needed, some of which may need to be purchased in advance. Follow along with each step as Laura and Peter make delicious mozzarella that can be enjoyed on salads, sandwiches or pizza! The video also includes troubleshooting tactics for this slightly more challenging cheese.

If you have a suggestion for another video tutorial for making a different kind of cheese, email Laura Kovacs.
