Union County Human Services’ Community Support and Outreach Division was presented the Community Based Advocate Award at the 11th Annual Violence Prevention & Intervention Service Awards luncheon on October 24.

The Violence Prevention Task Force of Union County is a community-based team dedicated to the prevention of all abuse and violence. The team reaches out to the community through education and awareness to ensure violence, in any form, is not tolerated in Union County.

Each year, the Violence Prevention Task Force recognizes individuals and organizations in Union County that go “above and beyond” providing assistance related to domestic violence, sexual assault, child maltreatment and elder abuse.

This year’s award winners were the Honorable Hunt Gwyn - Distinguished Humanitarian; UC Human Services Community Support & Outreach Division - Community Based Advocate; Det. Gary Veasie (Monroe PD) - System Based Advocate; Chasity Conway, SANE (Atrium) - Outstanding Service Provider.

Other nominees from Union County’s Human Services department were Adan Nardozzi (CMARC, Public Health), Jackie Grignon (Child Welfare, Social Services), and Robyn Mobley (Child Welfare, Social Services).

Anyone in Union County can be nominated for a Violence Prevention & Intervention Award. Winners are chosen by the task force based on narratives showcasing their intervention efforts.
