Our five residential waste and recycling centers are open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays ONLY, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Holiday closings will be posted on the County's homepage and on the County's calendar. 

If you need to dispose of an item on a day that our residential sites are closed, you may wish to bring your items to the Landfill, which is open six days per week. All services available at our residential sites are also available at the Landfill. Please visit the landfill page for hours of operation, policies, and more information.

All Union County waste & recycling sites are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Please check the county's homepage or calendar for holiday closures and announcements.   

Union County does not provide curbside collection of garbage, recycling or yard waste. Please check with your town, city or private service provider about holiday schedule changes to curbside collection services.

• Bagged household garbage
• Household recycling
  • Paper and cardboard: Large loads of cardboard can only be accepted at our landfill (2125 Austin Chaney Rd.), Monday-Friday during business hours – 7 am to 4 pm.
  • Plastics, metal and cartons
  • Glass recycling
• Used motor oil (Residents only; 5 gallon limit)
• Used oil filters
• E-waste (Electronics) – accepted at all sites EXCEPT White Store

Trash Disposal

Union County residents may dispose of limited amounts of bagged household garbage for free through our Trash Pass program. Before visiting our sites, please visit the program page to review the policies and also review the County's requirements to Cover Your Load, which helps prevent roadside litter.

Large loads of trash that exceed the limits of the Trash Pass program will be redirected to the Landfill where staff will assist you with processing payment based on the size of the load.
