Landfill Hours:
Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – noon

Large loads of cardboard is only accepted at the landfill on weekdays.

All Union County waste & recycling sites are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Please check with your town or city or your waste service provider about changes to curbside collection schedules. 

Items Accepted at the Union County Landfill:   

• Mattresses, furniture, and other bulky items
• Bagged household garbage
• Construction and demolition waste
• Yard waste
• Used motor oil and antifreeze (Residents only; 5 gallon limit)
• Used oil filters
• E-waste (Click here to view the types of electronics accepted for recycling)
• White goods: refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.
• Tires: off the rim
• Scrap metal
• Household recycling
• Cardboard

Recyclable Materials

No fees are assessed for accepted recyclable materials.

Review a list of materials Union County Solid Waste accepts for recycling on our residential waste and recycling centers page; residents may recycle these same acceptable materials and items for free at the landfill.

All Other Materials

NOTE: You must cover your load before transporting waste to our sites. Unsecured loads will be charged twice our normal fees.

Garbage, Construction & Demolition, Yard Waste:

• Pickup Truck, Car, SUV or Van $20.00 per load
• Single-Axle Trailer or Flatbed Truck $20.00 per load (load is 2-foot high or lower)
• Single-Axle Trailer or Flatbed Truck $40.00 per load (load is higher than 2 feet)
• Dual-Axle Trailer or Flatbed Truck $80.00 per load
• Box Truck or Covered Trailer $80.00 per load
• Please note: Commercial rates apply to all dump-style transportation equipment and large qualifying loads at the discretion of facility staff.

Commercial Waste Fees:

• Municipal Solid Waste (MSW): $60/ton (effective July 1, 2026: $65/ton)
• Construction & Demolition (C&D): $58/ton (effective July 1, 2026: $63/ton)
• Yard Debris: $60/ton (effective July 1, 2026: $65/ton)
• Scrap Tires: $130/ton (no change to this rate with the FY27 budget)
