All Union County residents may use the County's solid waste services, which are funded by both user fees and tax dollars.

County residents can dispose of bagged household garbage and unbagged recyclable materials at the Union County Landfill in Wingate or at five residential waste and recycling centers conveniently located throughout the County. Please visit the respective pages to find hours of operation and policies for each site. Before you visit our sites, please read the County's rules for covering your load so that your trash and recyclables do not become roadside litter.

Our "Trash Pass" program allows county residents to dispose of a limited amount of household waste for free at any of these sites; if you have excess amounts of garbage, bring it to the landfill so that staff can assess the amount and let you know how much you need to pay for disposal. There is no cost to drop off accepted recyclable materials at any of our sites.

The map below shows the locations of each of our sites. Holiday closures for our facilities are posted on the County's calendar and the County homepage.
