Home MenuProperty Reappraisal
Under state law, counties in North Carolina regularly revalue property for the purpose of assessing property taxes so that residents and businesses are paying based on the current market value of their property. Through this page, you can learn about how real property is appraised in a fair and equitable manner, who conducts the reappraisal, and how property owners can be involved in the process.

The Tax Administration Office completed a general reappraisal in 2025 and sent notices of new values in March of 2025. For the 2026 tax year, the Tax Administration Office will only send new notices if there are changes to the value of a property. Here are examples of such possible changes:
- New Construction
- Additions to an Existing Structure
- Demolition
- Renovation
- Rezoning
- Acreage
You can click on the links above to review your property information, view comparable sales, or appeal your property value. The appeal window opens January 1, 2026 and closes after the Board of Equalization and Review adjourns for the purpose of accepting new appeals.
