Child Health Behavioral Health (CHBH) Program
Taking care of your child’s mental health is just as important as caring for their physical health.
Program Overview
Our team understands that reaching out for mental health care can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make it easy and stress-free. With short-term, proven treatments and caring providers, the CHBH program is designed to meet your child’s unique needs and help them thrive—because every family deserves the support they need to feel their best.
Why Mental Health Matters
Our program offers short-term, proven therapeutic treatments for behavioral health and if needed, medication management.
With parental or guardian consent and meeting eligibility criteria, this program helps children dealing with anxiety, depression and/or ADHD.
- Be an established or new patient of Union County Child Health Clinic.
- Be between the ages of 8-21.
- Show mild to moderate behavioral health concerns, based on screenings conducted during Child Health Clinic appointments.
The program accepts Medicaid and private insurance.
Uninsured patients may qualify for a sliding scale fee program, which adjusts costs based on family income.
Appointment Information
Child Health Behavioral appointments are available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The first intake appointment is typically scheduled in the morning due to its longer duration. This appointment usually lasts between one to two hours.
Follow-up appointments are usually scheduled in the afternoon to accommodate school schedules and are held every other week, lasting about 30-45 minutes.
A parent or guardian is required to attend the first appointment. Depending on the treatment plan, they may not need to attend follow-up sessions.
If another adult will be bringing the child to follow-up appointments, please discuss this arrangement with the Behavioral Health Care Manager.
Appointments are available for scheduling either in-person or virtually.
Participation in the program generally lasts around six months, though this can vary from 3 to 12 months, depending on individual needs.
