Jesse Helms Park serves Union County residents as well as surrounding areas, offering a playground, walking trail, soccer complex, picnic shelter, and picnic sites.

For school groups, daycares, and summer camps, schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance for an affordable and enriching experience. View the guide here.

If soccer games are scheduled on a weekend, all facilities will be open during game times for public use.

Reservations

Fields
  • The soccer complex has six full-size soccer fields that can be utilized for children and adult games upon request, as well as weekday practice sessions. 
  • Reservations are required for use and must be received at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Fields are open between April 1 and Oct. 31 each year.

Shelter
  • Covered picnic shelter with picnic tables and double grill is by reservation only.  
  • Shelter reservations must be received at least 48 hours in advance. 
  • Max capacity: 75 people.

Farm-Themed Playground

Designed by Cunningham Recreation and featuring innovative equipment from GameTime, this inclusive play space welcomes children of all ages and abilities. With barn and tractor-inspired play structures, climbing nets, musical areas, adaptive swings, and more. This park celebrates imagination, accessibility and community.
