Visitors may notice new "Happy to Chat" signs on benches at Cane Creek Park. Union County Parks and Recreation has added these signs to help people feel more connected. The signs invite park visitors to stop, say hello and have a friendly conversation. When someone sits on a bench with a Happy to Chat sign, it means they are open to talking with others. A simple chat can help someone feel seen, heard and less alone. Union County is the first county in North Carolina to officially launch Happy to Chat benches. The project was created in partnership with Team Hope, a local group that works to prevent suicide and build stronger communities.
