Tuesday, Feb. 3: Most County facilities and services will open with a delay starting at 1 p.m. All Union County Library locations will open late and close early, operating 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday. Due to the ongoing threat of wet roads refreezing, some County services will remain closed on Tuesday, including:

  • Waste and recycling sites, including the County landfill, will be closed to the public all day Tuesday, Feb. 3.
  • County parks will be closed to the public all day Tuesday, Feb. 3.
  • Transportation services will not operate on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
  • All home deliveries in the Senior Nutrition program are canceled on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and congregate meal sites are closed. Clients have received shelf-stable meals for emergencies.
Return to Normal Operations: Wednesday

Wednesday, Feb. 4: All County facilities and services will return to normal operations.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as operational adjustments were in place due to winter weather.

  • Following Winter Storm Gianna, the County State of Emergency has been terminated and our Emergency Operations Center has returned to normal operations. However - roads throughout the county are still icy in many areas and dangerous for travel. Please continue to stay home if possible and be extra careful if you have to venture out.

  • The regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting on Feb. 2 was canceled due to inclement weather. All items on the agenda will move to the next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17 (as Feb. 16 is Presidents Day).

County officials urge residents to:

  • Prepare now by reviewing our winter preparedness webpage that includes information on building an emergency kit, signing up for UC Alerts, and planning for possible power outages.
  • Stay home and avoid travel during the storm, especially this weekend and Monday morning.
  • Use 911 only for emergencies.
