Child Care Health Consultants offer expert information, resources and referrals to local child care providers. Through onsite and telephone consultation, health education and technical assistance, CCHCs work with individual child care facilities to help create environments that best support the healthy growth and development of young children.
CCHC’s partner with child care providers to:
- Assess health and safety needs and practices in the child care facility. Work with the Center to help achieve their goals.
- Develop strategies for inclusion of children with special health care needs.
- Establish and review health policies and procedures.
- Manage and prevent injuries and infectious diseases.
- Review immunization records.
- Connect families with community health resources and medical homes.
- Provide health education and training for staff members, families and children.
- Interpret NC Child Care Rules and National Health and Safety Performance Standards to provide guidance to child care programs.
- CCHCs are not responsible for regulating child care facilities.
