Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee
The Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee is established by North Carolina General Statutes to maintain the Domiciliary Homes Residents' Bill of Rights and to promote community involvement and cooperation with domiciliary homes in meeting the needs of the elderly and disabled persons residing in these homes. Members are appointed for an initial one-year term; thereafter members may be reappointed for three- year terms. No committee member may serve more than a term of three consecutive years (Excludes the initial one-year term) DUTIES: The duties of the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee are to: (a) Serve all domiciliary homes in the county; (b) Promote community education and awareness of the needs of residents of domiciliary homes and to work to keep the public informed about aspects of long-term care and the operation of domiciliary homes in the State. (c) Develop and recruit volunteer resources to enhance the quality of life for domiciliary home residents; (d) Establish linkages with Domiciliary Home Administrators and the county; Department of Social Services for the purpose of maintaining the spirit of the Bill of Rights Law; (e) Identify alleged violations of the Residents' Rights (113C-52) and report them to the home administrator or supervisor-in-charge. Report alleged violations to the County Department of Social Services; (f) Make an annual report to the Board of County Commissioners with an appraisal of the strengths and problems of domiciliary facilities in the county and identifying issues affecting long-term care in general.
