Commissioner Clancy Baucom was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on March 18, 2024, to fill the vacancy left by Commissioner Richard Helm's resignation. He is currently serving the remaining two-year term of his late cousin, Commissioner Stony D. Rushing, through December 2026.
A lifelong resident of Union County, Commissioner Baucom graduated from Piedmont High School before earning an associate degree from NC State University. His dedication to the local agricultural sector is evident through his ownership of Arbor Fields Inc., a wholesale nursery on 200 acres in Marshville.
His experience and involvement in the agricultural and horticultural communities give him a unique perspective serving on the Board of County Commissioners. Having grown up in rural Union County, Commissioner Baucom is especially concerned about rural preservation.
In addition to his professional commitments, Commissioner Baucom is actively involved in the community and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Baucom has been married to his wife Kim, who is also a Union County native, for more than 30 years. Together, they have three adult daughters: Kendra, Callie and Carmen.
