Vice Chair Christina Helms was sworn into the Union County Board of Commissioners on December 2, 2024. A Union County resident since fifth grade, Helms was first elected to public service in 2012 as a member of the Union County Board of Education. While serving two terms on the Board of Education, Helms served on the Facilities and Parks & Recreation committees and chaired the Curriculum and Policy committee, championing initiatives to uphold Union County’s reputation as home to one of the best school systems in the state. Now as Commissioner, she is honored to continue to support our schools.

Commissioner Helms is passionate about preserving the County's agricultural heritage and supporting farmers of all sizes. She and her husband Daron have been married more than 25 years. They are proud parents of their adult son, Austin, and are members of Lee Park Church.
