Development Ordinance Article 85 Section 85.020

COUNTY: “ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A PLANNING BOARD FOR UNION COUNTY – Docket 10 (54-57), Docket 11 (438). Text Amendment to Section 21 of the Land Use Ordinance Adopted March 16, 2009, amended the Number of Members to Seven Regular Members appointed at large and Two Alternate Members. All members, whether regular or alternate members, must reside within the county, and no more than two members shall reside within the same municipality.

About the Planning Board

POWERS AND DUTIES:

The Planning Board may:

    1. Make studies and recommend to the Board plans, goals, and objectives relating to the growth, development and redevelopment of the county.
    2. Develop and recommend to the Board policies, ordinances, administrative procedures and other means for carrying out plans in a coordinated and efficient manner.
    3. Make recommendations to the Board concerning proposed zoning map changes.
    4. Hear and decide applications for major development permits.
    5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Board.

COMPOSITION:

A.Number of members: seven (7) plus two (2) alternates.
B.Term: three (3) years (Initial Board to serve staggered terms)
C.Requirements of who appoints: Union County Board of Commissioners
