Union County Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential service provided at no cost to the employees of Union County and their family members.

EAP provides certified counselors who administer assessment and brief therapy to employees who want help with a variety of personal and work-related issues such as stress, parenting concerns, grief, alcohol/drug use, family problems, financial concerns, and work-related problems. If additional treatment is needed, the EAP counselor can recommend further treatment options.


  • Confidential counseling services
  • Trained, certified counselors
  • 24-hour Call Center providing confidential screenings, referrals and information
  • Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
  • Access to 24-hour service and a toll free number
  • Confidential assessment, referral and short-term counseling (up to 6 sessions per employee and his/her immediate family)
  • Health and wellness educational seminars
  • Monitoring/monthly follow-up (to 12 months) for substance abuse clients

Our EAP Counselors are masters-level clinicians who are Certified Employee Assistance Professionals. Many hold additional licenses or certifications including: Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC); National Certified Counselor (NCC); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The counselors adhere to strict legal guidelines regarding disclosure of program participation.

EAP counselors are available to help employees understand how their insurance coverage can be applied to additional counseling/treatment.
