Community Support & Outreach

Community Support and Outreach
UC CARESCommunity Support and Outreach (CSO) programs touch three main areas. We manage federal and state economic stability programs, deliver nutrition services to vulnerable populations, and provide community outreach and engagement activities including volunteer coordination, health education, and parenting programs. CSO works to promote a healthy community, as well as culturally and linguistically appropriate services, through training, health education and promotion, and outreach. CSO seeks to serve as a convener of local and regional human service agencies with the goal of maximizing partnerships. With our community partners, we identify key issues and work together to build a healthier Union County by systematically addressing the social determinants of health that impact access.

Christmas Assistance

Union County families may begin applying to receive Christmas assistance on Monday, September 28, 2020. This year, due to COVID, we will be taking applications over the phone rather than in person. Those wishing to apply will need to call 704-296-4828 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to speak with a trained volunteer that will take their application. Applicants will need to have the following information when calling in to be able to complete the application:

  • Gross monthly income for the household
  • Last 4 digits of social security number for each person in the home that has one
  • Children’s DOB, clothing sizes, and gift ideas.

The Union County Christmas Bureau is designed to assist Union County families with children under the age of 18 and disabled or senior adults.
