As of August 18, 2023, Clayton Voignier serves as Assistant County Manager. Prior to his current appointment, Clayton served as the Interim Assistant County Manager since April 1, 2023. He joined Union County as the Director of Strategy and Innovation in June 2021.
Voignier has more than 20 years of experience working in government and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Union County, he was the Director of Community Planning and Development in Richland County, South Carolina since 2019. He spent 13 years with Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in a variety of management roles in administration, social services and finance, including as an International City/County Management Association Fellow in 2005.
Voignier has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Public Affairs Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Pfeiffer University. He received his Certificate in Municipal and County Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. He is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
