Union County Public Health Earns State Recognition for 2025 Community Health Assessment

Post Date:06/10/2026 8:08 AM

""Union County Public Health has received state approval for its 2025 Community Health Assessment (CHA), after receiving recognition for excellence at this year's CHA-CHIP Institute in Atlantic Beach.

Every few years, Union County Public Health works with residents, community partners and local organizations to assess the health needs of our community. The findings shape which programs and services the County prioritizes and where resources are directed.

State reviewers called Union County's submission a high-quality assessment and highlighted its use of community voices, focus on health equity, and strong regional partnerships. NC DHHS reviewer Dr. Kathryn Dail noted that Union County shows what is possible when partners help shape priorities, not just contribute data.

"I am incredibly proud of the work our team put into this assessment," said Traci Colley, Public Health Director. What makes it special is not just the data, it is the community voices woven throughout. This recognition belongs to everyone who contributed to making it possible."

The assessment now sets the stage for the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), which will turn findings into action over the next several years.
