"Union County Through Generations" showcases how local families can uncover stories from the past using the library's genealogy resources. The Genealogy Room offers a variety of resources for family researchers, including reference materials, historical newspapers, genealogy databases, and collections of historical photos.
"Genealogy allows people to discover how their family story connects to the history of Union County and even the history of the nation," said Genealogy and Local History Librarian Gypsy Houston. "Our resources help guide visitors through the journey of discovery, whether they are just starting their research or building on generations of family records."
Union County Library hopes these resources will inspire residents to explore their personal histories and to remember that the story of the nation is made up of the stories of families and communities here in Union County. Houston's top tip for beginners? Just start. "Speak with your elders and learn from them while they are here."
