Union County Launches a Free Veterans Resource Fair

Post Date:05/01/2026 8:30 AM

""For many veterans, coming home is only the beginning. Union County Veterans Services is hosting the Almost Home Veterans Resource Fair on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Simpson Events Center in Monroe. The event is free and open to veterans and their families across Union County.

Attendees can expect resource booths covering VA benefits and claims, employment and career services, mental and physical health care, and community support programs. Veterans Services Officers will be on-site to assist with basic claims and answer benefits questions. The program will open with remarks from Union County Veterans Services and city and county officials. A casual lunch will be provided.

Almost Home reflects the idea that for many veterans, service does not end when they take off the uniform. Military service may be over, but the journey home continues with the transition to civilian life; navigating mental and physical health challenges, employment, VA benefits and stability within the community often continues. This is where community support, resources, and connections play an important role in that journey.

"For many veterans, the journey doesn't end upon separation. Veterans Services' goal is to help veterans and their families navigate this transition," said Michelle Marcano, Union County Veterans Services Director. "Almost Home is our commitment to making sure that veterans in Union County have the support they need and deserve."
