Commissioner Gary Sides has announced his resignation from the Union County Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Sides has been a dedicated and valued member of our County government since being elected in 2024.
Commissioner Sides has a long-standing dedication to public service in Union County. He was appointed to the Stallings Town Council from 2004 to 2005. Then he was later elected to the Union County Board of Education in 2014, a role he proudly served for 10 years before joining the Board of County Commissioners.
Commissioner Sides' resignation is effective immediately. In accordance with state law, the Board of Commissioners has 60 days to vote on a new member to fill Commissioner Sides’ seat on the board. The board will continue to carry out its duties effectively during this transition period.
