Each year, this award goes to member agencies that consistently show excellence in purchasing practices. Union County is one of 19 agencies to receive this award. Procurement and Contract Management assists all County departments with purchasing goods and obtaining services, including construction and repair. Generally, Procurement and Contract Management oversees contract awards for companies seeking to do business with the County.

"Every day, our team strives to uphold the highest purchasing standards and work with other departments in efforts to make a truly positive impact within our organization and in the community," said Corey Brooks, Procurement and Contract Management Director. "Continuing to win this award highlights the County’s continued commitment to transparency, which is one of Union County Government's core values.”

The Board of County Commissioners recognized the team's accomplishment on March 16, 2026, during the regular meeting. To achieve this recognition, the department answered key application questions and submitted detailed documentation. The team recently accepted the award at a banquet in Wilmington, NC, at the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing annual awards banquet.

Since 1952, the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing has supported public procurement professionals through statewide educational and networking opportunities.
