Most Union County Government offices and facilities will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Dec. 26 in observance of Christmas, as well as Thursday, Jan. 1 for the New Year holiday. 

Union County Library: All library locations will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 26, and Saturday, Dec. 27. They will resume regular operating hours on Monday, Dec. 29. All library locations will close early on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. and will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1. They will resume regular operating hours on Friday, Jan. 2. When the library is closed, book drops will also be closed and locked. No items are due or fines charged when the library is closed. The library's digital resources are always available online.  

Parks and Recreation: Cane Creek Park will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25. On Friday, Dec. 26, the day use area of the park will be open, but the park office will be closed and the campground will not accept reservation requests. Regular operating hours resume Saturday, Dec. 27. On Thursday, Jan. 1, the day use area of the park will be open, but the park office will be closed and the campground will not accept in-person reservation requests for the same day. Online campground reservation requests will be available. Cane Creek Park is offering free admission through February 2026. 

Waste and Recycling: The Union County Landfill and all residential Waste and Recycling Centers will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1. The only residential Waste and Recycling Center open Friday, Dec. 26, is the location on Austin Chaney Road. Other centers are only open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Click here to view locations and regular operating hours.

Union County Water: Union County Water's Customer Care Office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Dec. 26 in observance of Christmas, as well as Thursday, Jan. 1 for the New Year holiday. When the Customer Care Office is closed, customers may continue to call Union County Water's primary phone number - 704-296-4210 - to speak with an after-hours call taker. Crews will respond promptly to water and wastewater emergencies confirmed by staff. Our customer care specialists will follow up regarding all other matters as quickly as possible during regular business hours.
