Union County GIS & Mapping Introduces New Online Mapping Tool

Post Date:07/21/2025 1:27 PM

400x400-UCAtlasUnion County's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & Mapping team has launched a new, easy-to-use online mapping and property lookup system, UC Atlas. The system offers an enhanced experience that includes the majority of all functions on the main page, making it easier to access the tools needed to find data and explore infrastructure, property boundaries, zoning classifications, utilities, and other vital community features. UC Atlas replaced GoMAPS, which was retired by a third-party developer in 2024.

"UC Atlas is a more convenient and manageable way to get accurate mapping and location information than our previous system," said Bryan McFadden, GIS Manager. "Even though we anticipate users will find the new site easy to navigate, our friendly and knowledgeable GIS & Mapping team is available to help you with the new platform. We recognize how valuable this resource is for residents and businesses who have relied on it for years."

For the last six months, the GIS & Mapping team has worked with a developer to ensure the same features are available but in a more functional layout. For example, the UC Atlas search methods are on the front page, allowing for a streamlined and more accessible process of finding information on a subdivision. With built-in reporting tools and intuitive navigation, users can now generate maps, view parcel data, and analyze geographic information, all from any desktop or mobile device.

"This is an update and refresh to our previous tool that will make information more conveniently discoverable," McFadden said.

Self-guided training materials with support on commonly used functions will be available in the future. For questions or assistance, contact gishelp@unioncountync.govClick here to visit the UC Atlas webpage.
