Post Date:07/18/2025 11:28 AM

400x400-DigCounties-Winner-2025Union County’s Information Technology (IT) department was recognized at the national level for the seventh consecutive year for implementing innovative technology and cybersecurity practices to enhance our community and workplace.

The County earned seventh place in the 2025 Digital Counties Survey by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo). The County ranked in the 250,000-499,999 population category among U.S. counties.

The survey, created by CDG in collaboration with NACo, identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties, including initiatives that streamline the delivery of government services, provide data analytics to inform decisions based on performance and outcomes, enhance cybersecurity, and apply innovative and emerging technologies to address county priorities.

“Receiving this honor again is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to finding easy and more efficient ways to best serve the County through innovative technology,” said Jon Amelio, IT Director. “We look forward to seeing how we can enhance services even more in the future for everyone who engages with the County.”

CDG recognized ten counties in five categories based on population size. Union County recently moved up in the population category. Union County has participated in the survey for seven years and has earned a spot in the top ten each year.

Each year, the Digital Counties Survey allows counties to provide updates on current technology initiatives. IT staff collaborated with several County departments to detail initiatives accomplished over the last 12 months that improve cybersecurity, improve digital experiences, and highlight other efforts toward continuous improvement through digital transformation.

“This year’s Digital Counties Survey winners exemplify a strong commitment to innovation, excellence in digital government, and public service,” said John Matelski, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Government. “Their achievements set a national benchmark and serve as an inspiration to counties across the country working to modernize and improve the delivery of government services.”
