Community Information Meeting on Property Reappraisal

Post Date:04/30/2025 8:34 AM

400x400-News-Reappraisal2025Property owners interested in learning more about the 2025 countywide property reappraisal process are invited to attend an upcoming Community Information Meeting hosted in partnership between Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and Union County Tax Administration. The information session will be held Thursday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, at 402 East Hudson Street in Monroe.

This meeting is one of several the Tax Administration Office has held to provide a general overview of the reappraisal process, explain how property values are determined, and outline the steps for appealing a value if a property owner disagrees with the new assessment. The session will be a general information and Q&A forum. Staff will answer questions about the process, but property-specific concerns will not be addressed during the meeting. Property owners with questions about their assessment are encouraged to contact the Tax Administration Office by calling 704.283.3746 or by emailing taxhelp@unioncountync.gov

"We want to make sure residents understand the reappraisal process, why it's required, and what options they have if they believe their new value is incorrect," said Vann Harrell, Union County Tax Administrator. "These sessions are an important way for us to answer questions and help property owners feel confident in the fairness of the process. We appreciate the partnership with Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church to host this information session."

The countywide reappraisal is a process mandated by the State of North Carolina to ensure fair and equitable property assessments. Updated values reflect changes in the real estate market and other factors that influence property values.

Property owners who wish to appeal their new property value must submit an appeal electronically through the county's website by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, or ensure their appeal is postmarked by that date.

For more information about the reappraisal process, the appeal process, and additional resources, visit our reappraisal webpage.
