Union County's Procurement and Contract Management Department recently received the 2024 Sustained Professional Purchasing Award from the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing for the ninth year. The Sustained Professional Purchasing Award is presented annually and recognizes all member agencies that have demonstrated sustained excellence in purchasing standards during the calendar year. The Union County Procurement & Contract Management Department is one of 17 agencies throughout the association to receive this award.
"Our team works hard and collaborates with other departments to ensure we follow the highest professional purchasing standards," said Procurement and Contract Management Department Director Cheryl Wright. "Receiving this award in recent years has reinforced our commitment to being good stewards of public funds."
To receive the award, the Procurement and Contract Management team met or exceeded the requirements to receive the honor after answering critical application questions and providing significant details alongside substantial documentation of their work. The Sustained Professional Purchasing Award was presented at the North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing Association Banquet & Awards presentation in Greensboro, NC, on March 19, 2025.
The Board of County Commissioners recognized the team's achievement at its April 7, 2025, regular meeting.
