MONROE, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2025) – Union County Emergency Management Director Andrew Ansley will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, to monitor the impacts of the winter storm and lead the County’s response efforts. According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to bring snow and icy conditions, as well as possible downed trees and power outages. The EOC is a command center, bringing together numerous partners across the County to share information, make decisions, monitor developments, and coordinate response efforts.
"Keeping our residents safe is our top priority and an ongoing effort as the winter weather clears," Ansley said. "Please be cautious as we experience icy roads and walkways, especially as it gets dark and more difficult to see hazardous icy conditions. We encourage everyone to stay home and avoid driving."
The EOC will operate around the clock to monitor conditions, manage resources, and provide updates to partners and public.
Residents are urged to stay informed by signing up for UC Alerts and by following the Union County Facebook page. Updates on any road closures and other critical information will be shared as the storm progresses.
Helpful information and resources are available on the County's winter weather preparedness webpage.
