UPDATE: Indian Trail Road to Close for Bridge Replacement Project

Posted on 06/10/16

Editor's Note: Indian Trail Road was originally scheduled to close on Friday, June 10, to replace the bridge over South Fork Crooked Creek. That closure has been postponed until Monday, June 27. The news release below reflects the updated schedule.

CHARLOTTE – A portion of Indian Trail Road will close to traffic on Monday, June 27, while a project to replace the bridge over South Fork Crooked Creek is under way.

This project is part of NCDOT’s program to rehabilitate and replace bridges across the state. The budget signed by Governor McCrory last year provided more than $450 million over two years to improve the state’s bridges.

The road will be closed at the bridge until early November 2016. During this time, motorists can use the following detours:

  • The detour for passenger cars and school buses will be Indian Trail Road to Old Monroe Road using Southfolk Road. A new, temporary signalized intersection will be completed at Old Monroe Road and South Fork Road and will be put into service the day of the closure.
  • The detour for tractor-trailers will be Stallings Road to Old Monroe Road using Gribble Road.

Before bridge construction begins, message board will be installed to alert motorists of the upcoming closure.
