Union County Receives Safety Award

Posted on 04/29/16

April 29, 2016, Monroe, NC – Union County was presented with a Gold Award from the N.C. Department of Labor (NCDOL) at the Union County Chamber of Commerce's annual Safety Awards Luncheon on Thursday, April 28. Accepting the award for Union County were Risk Manager Keith Richards and Public Works Health and Safety Program Manager Darius Chisholm.

NCDOL’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records. The program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.

Awards are presented annually by Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry to employers who have had no fatalities and have maintained an incidence rate at least 50 percent below the average for its industry group.
