Revenue Division Collection Rate Near 100 Percent

Posted on 08/19/15

August 19, 2015, Monroe, NC - The end of Fiscal Year 2014-2015 marked a record year for the Union County Tax Administrator’s office as the Revenue division achieved a record collection rate of 99.25 percent for current year property and registered motor vehicle taxes.

The Revenue division is responsible for the collection of current and delinquent property taxes for Union County, as well as utility bills and other miscellaneous County revenues. Property taxes are the single largest revenue for the County, and the success rate of the Revenue division can have a significant impact on the overall County budget.

Union County’s collection rate ranks it as one of the top five counties in the state for FY 14-15 in terms of the percentage of taxes collected.

“This record collection rate can only be attributed to the hard work and dedication of the employees of not only the Revenue division, but the entire Tax Administrator’s office,” said Union County Tax Administrator John Petoskey.
