Parks and Recreation Held Final Public Meeting

March 5, 2015, Monroe, NC – Union County Parks and Recreation held its third public meeting on March 3 at Union Academy to present the draft Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan.

The draft plan consists of research received over the last seven months through public meetings, surveys, today’s trends and comparison with other parks and recreation agencies.

Approximately 30 people attended the presentation and were asked for their feedback. The meeting’s draft plan and the results of the previous public meetings can be found on the Parks and Recreation website

Individuals unable to attend the meeting can view the presentation and provide any comments via e-mail to ParksandRecPlan@unioncountync.gov or call Bill Whitley, division director, Parks and Recreation at 704-283-3611.

Comments are being accepted through Tuesday, March 17. After that time, the draft plan will be updated to create the final plan. The comprehensive master plan is scheduled to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners in May
