Monroe Library to host health insurance enrollment event

Posted on 12/28/16

Monroe, NC - Union County Public Library, in partnership with Legal Services of the Southern Piedmont (LSSP), will host a healthcare insurance enrollment event at the Monroe Library on Saturday, January 7th . Federally trained Navigators will be available from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM to provide free, unbiased, one-on-one assistance to those enrolling in Affordable Care Act health insurance plans.

Open enrollment for Affordable Care Act health insurance plans ends on January 31st. This event is designed for those who are in need of assistance or advice in choosing a plan. Although the costs of health insurance plans have risen, so have the subsidies associated with the plans. “Affordable health care is available” says Madison Hardee, Senior Attorney for Health Care Access at LSSP, noting that “oftentimes people can get signed up for less than the amount of the fine that they would pay at the end of the year.” Around 90% of North Carolinians are eligible for Affordable Care Act subsidies.

The enrollment event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Griffin Room of the Monroe Library beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 7th. Attendees should enter the library through the Windsor St. entrance. Reservations for the event can be made by calling 855-733-3711 or online at Walk-ins are welcome and will be assisted on a first come, first served basis.
