Monroe, NC – The Union County Extension Master Gardeners announce that preparations are underway for the 2016 Union County Heritage Festival, Saturday April 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday April 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Union County Agricultural Center. This is a fun, free, family-friendly event, with the mission to educate the citizens of Union County about our natural and cultural heritage and to provide inspiration for individuals to attain and sustain a healthy lifestyle, community and environment. At last year’s festival we counted over 3000 attendees!
We invite vendors and exhibitors with ties to Union County, educationally focused exhibitors, lawn and garden vendors, environmentally friendly businesses, health and fitness groups, local artisans of handmade, traditional crafts and garden themed products, local farms, and non-profit organizations who do good things for the community. Sponsorship opportunities range from $25 to $1000 with a variety of exciting promotional benefits. Vendor booth fees are $25 for an outdoor booth, $10 for nonprofit, and $45 for an indoor booth space. Fees apply for one day or both.
The event includes the Wild Turkey 5K Trail Run and Walk, benefiting the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Registration available on-line at www.sportoften.com. The festivities include a vendor fair, the Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale, kids’ activities, raffle prizes, food and live entertainment. Local experts will offer free talks and cooking demonstrations. The event will take place in conjunction with the Union County Farm Show and Festival hosted by the UC Antique Tractor and Power Club.
The Union County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers’ mission is to foster a partnership to create a sustainable community through education and implementation. They offer Successful Gardener classes to the public, maintain a website of useful gardening information, monitor a call system called the Growline at 704-283-3822 or email@example.com and offer three Sales events per year.
