Indian Trail to Get Additional Deputies

Posted on 08/18/15

August 18, 2015, Monroe, NC – Union County has amended its contract with the Town of Indian Trail to add three new deputy sheriff positions and assume funding for two Governor’s Highway Safety Program grant positions.

Over the years, the Union County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement services contract with the Town of Indian Trail has grown from one deputy to the current staffing level of 21 deputies, including three supervisors. As Indian Trail continues to grow and change, the level of service provided by the Sheriff’s Office must also change to meet the increased needs associated with growth.

In its FY2016 budget, Indian Trail has included $302,242 to assume financial responsibility for the two positions previously funded by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program grant and the three new deputy sheriff positions. Union County will fund the remaining $33,583.

Indian Trail has requested the positions be added based on the following schedule:

Position 1: To begin any time after July 1, 2015
Position 2: To begin any time after October 1, 2015
Position 3: To begin any time after January 1, 2016
