County Wins Two Recycling Awards

October 27, 2015, Monroe, NC – Union County Public Works Division of Solid Waste and Union County Surplus were presented with Responsible Recycling awards by USB Recycling on Oct. 27.

Jennifer Crumpler, recycling coordinator for Public Works, accepted the Responsible Recycling Award on behalf of the Solid Waste Division, which recycled 360,161 pounds of electronics in 2014. David Shaul, procurement specialist for Administrative Services, was on hand to receive the award for Union County Surplus. Surplus recycled 6,074 pounds of electronics in 2014.

USB Recycling accepts all old, obsolete, junk PCs, peripherals and printers. The materials are brought to its warehouse and processed to insure no hazardous material is being thrown out or put into a land fill. All monitors are processed to meet EPA guidelines, and all printers and toners are handled in an appropriate manner.
