County to Fund Two Positions in DA’s Office

Posted on 08/01/16

August 1, 2016, Monroe, NC – Commissioners on Monday approved an agreement to fund two assistant district attorney positions in the Union County District Attorney’s Office.

In the County’s adopted FY 2017 Operating and Capital Budget, commissioners provided $145,990 to fund the salaries and benefits for two assistant district attorney positions. These positions serve in the District Court and prosecute Union County Jail cases.

The goal of these positions is to reduce the pre-trial population at the County’s jail, thereby reducing costs to Union County taxpayers.
