Commissioners Approve Rezoning for Athletic Club

Posted on 10/06/15

October 6, 2015, Monroe, NC – The Union County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a request by the Union Athletic Club for the conditional rezoning of 50.34 acres off Goldmine Road to support the development of an indoor and outdoor athletic facility.

The developer intends to create a combination of indoor and outdoor athletic facilities targeted toward youth sports. The developer envisions outdoor sports fields, together with an indoor facility housing a track, multiple athletic courts, a restaurant and potentially an athletic merchandise retail store.

Access to the site will be facilitated by one-point access off of Phil Hargett Road in the Monroe Corporate Center Industrial Park. The site is undeveloped and currently being farmed.
