May 18, 2016, Monroe, NC – Union County Public Library will host its very first crossword puzzle tournament on Sunday, June 12 as part of its Adult Summer Reading Program, "Exercise Your Mind."
"With this year's theme being ‘Exercise Your Mind,’ there is no better way to put your brain power to work than to solve some crossword puzzles," said Carolyn Kubisz, Reference Services Librarian. "This should be a really fun day. We are lucky to have gotten never-before-seen puzzles donated to us by crossword puzzle editor, Will Shortz at the New York Times."
Entrance into the tournament is free, but early registration is required. On the day of the tournament, doors will open for check-in at 1:45 p.m. and the tournament will run from 2:15 p.m. – 5 p.m. Awards will be given out to the top three finalists and all entrants will be eligible for door prizes.
