October 27, 2015, Monroe, NC – Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, the Monroe Library will host trained volunteers to assist those who need help applying for healthcare insurance through the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). The volunteers, known as Navigators, will provide free, unbiased one-on-one assistance to the residents of Union County, helping families and individuals choose plans that are best for them. Navigators are being provided in partnership with Legal Services of the Southern Piedmont. The federally-certified Navigators are extensively trained in the insurance plan options offered by the marketplace, as well as the subsidies and other cost saving measures available to individuals and families. Navigators are fluent in both English and Spanish. Local residents can schedule appointments with Navigators by calling the statewide appointment hotline at 855-733-3711 or online at Affordable Care Act open enrollment starts Nov. 1, 2015 and runs through Jan. 31, 2016. Navigators will be available at the Monroe Library every Monday from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. during the enrollment period.
